The link to the Fray's new single just came to me. Here is the link:

You Found Me

I'm not sure if the Fray is a Christian band per se, but their hit song, "How to Save a Life" was played on our local Christian station. This notification was relayed to me through a Christian contact.

What I do like about the Fray's songs are their lyrics. I sometimes will use a lyric as my title here, ie- "Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same" OR "Heaven forbid you end up alone and don't know why"

"How to Save a Life" is a song about a person who wasn't there when his friend committed suicide, and is wondering what he could have done differently.

Any other feedback? Is anyone else familiar with the Fray?

Sorry, kinda left this post hanging, Gail. I know my daughters like this song a lot, and ask for the radio to be turned up whenever it comes on. Don't know much about the band.

My daughter first discovered the band when a friend of hers took her to a local concert (Vancouver, actually Burnaby). He told her to give them a chance and at the time they were almost unknown. She loved what she heard.

Then suddenly you could hear their "How to Save a Life" everywhere- in stores, etc.

When I notified the Rikster of this new song, she emailed me back excitedly that she LOVES the song. So tell your girls that they are in good company, and it's nice to hear that they are being played internationally.

Hi Gail,

The Fray is a local Denver band. The band members went to a local Christian school together where they started playing, if memory serves. I don't think that they are a Christian band, per se, but their Christian background influences their music.

I don't actually listen to them.......however, on the morning talk show that hubby and I listen to they occassionally play their songs. In fact one morning they had the group on the show. They sound like a nice group of guys. At least 2 of them are married, so they definitely aren't your usual run of the mill rock band members!!

Since this thread was started, there have been a couple of write ups about them in the paper regarding their second album. So, of course I read them so that I could "fill you in." This may be stuff you already know, but, now you have my version!!

Oh, thanks, I appreciate that! I had wondered if they had a faith because of the depth of thought that is reflected in their songs.

It's nice to see kids out there thinking about life, real stuff about life, not just the hedonistic ideas that I grew up with in the 70s.

Gotta hand it to the youth of today!

You Raise Me Up was the favorite song of one of our Mods here who passed away last year. It will always be one of my favorites too, and remind me of her.

The mod who passed away, was it because of age disease or accident?
