This book by Stephen Dickie explains how we can successfully converse with a Muslim about spiritual matters. It is not a big book, but I found the information in there useful and concise. The book is promoted in Steve Wohlberg's DVD series- Islam Revisited

I should add that this method of relating to the Muslim world is revolutionary.
We as members of the SDA church are blessed to be the Christian denomination that is closet to the Muslim viewpoint. We have many commonalities and have an opportunity to witness as no other Christians are able.

HEY GAIL
I am sure this is a good book and will be helpful
i have heard the the Muslim religion is the fastest growing group that they now have more members than the catholic church... Not only that but they are immigrating everywhere, increasing their numbers in Western nations. We would do well to learn to communicate with this people, the "Children of the East", as the Bible puts it. The commission of the 3 angels is to include them, too.

Those Muslims who support terrorism is a small percentage. Many Muslims are like nominal Christians, who don't even know much about what the Qu'ran teaches.
God predicted that Ishmael would have a "wild side" to him, and we certainly see that in some parts of Islam even today.
But He also blessed Ishmael, saying that He would make of him a great nation.
My son has met Muslims in Africa and says that they are very nice people. I have a wonderful friendship with a Turkish fellow who lives in Instanbul.
If it were not for the rise of Islam in the 15-1600s, the Reformation would never have gotten off the ground...

Correct Luther stated that if it was not for the followers of Mohammed, and the protection they gave him from the Church of Rome, he would not have been able to do what he did.

Muslims have little good to say about the Catholic church. They can tolerate individual Catholics ok, but have no respect for the organized church.

I've read Steve's book and attended his workshop. Also I had the privilege of standing in the hall in Bishkek where he gave the series of Muslim orientated lectures in Kyrgyzstan. Recently, he has been involved with a special outreach in Australia at a Mosque there, with two young Bible Workers who have been working in Michigan, but are from Austalia. Also, Steve has been helping with Muslim orientated lectures on LLBN.
Working for Muslims has become a special interest for me. I volunteer with Gospel Outreach in charge of the Deaf Ministry Dept. However, I've realized that if 22% of the world is Muslim, then 22% of the world's "Deaf"are also Muslim. Thus, I need to be highly aware of this challenge.
There are many books on the subject available - some better than others. Dr. Darnell's lectures are also very helpful to get a closer view of their religion from an Adventist perspective. (Dr. Darnell has now passed away)
Currently I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the Koran. It basically revolves around these concepts: There is only one God, not several. God is merciful and if you have performed enough 'good deeds' and tried to live a good life, on the day of Final Judgment, God will probably allow you into Paradise. Paradise is beautiful gardens with flowing streams, and peace. If you have not listened to the 'warnings' from God, then at the resurreciton you will be raised, judged and go to a terrible hell full of torture. Like SDA's, they do beleive in a resurrection, and that God will reconstruct you again.
"Gerald" in a series of Farsi language TV programs is being beamed into the Middle East. Apparently he has a large following there. He is a lay pastor specializing in Muslim Ministry.

Correct Luther stated that if it was not for the followers of Mohammed, and the protection they gave him from the Church of Rome, he would not have been able to do what he did. He was referring to the fact that the Muslims were trying to invade Europe from the east and kept the pope busy trying to fend them off so the papacy couldn't destroy protestantism as it otherwise probably would have. In 1452, the Ottoman ruler, Sultan Mahomet II, ordered another attempt to capture Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire. This time, the Muslims were successful. Within about 100 years, the Ottomans added Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Rumania, and Hungary to their empire.
In 1529 and again in 1566, the Ottoman Turks tried to capture Vienna, the capital of the Holy Roman Empire in the heart of Europe. Both assaults on the city failed. More than 100 years later, the Ottomans tried once more with 250,000 troops.

That's excellent John. There is another person that does some work for Muslims, but used to do quite a bit some years back. A John McGhee, have you heard of him? He stayed at our house for about 3 years before taking a call to S.Korea. He did Muslim seminars while here in Mass. He might be someone to get in touch with also. pk
