Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

After watching "2012" with its thematic allusions to Biblical archetypes (namely Noah's ark), I'm left wondering exactly how the 2nd Coming will actually play out in terms of natural disasters and also wondered if maybe the Mayans knew something we still have to learn?

Also in light of my earlier question re: antediluvian topography, the most recent earthquakes and now the DVD release of 2012, I, as an Adventist raised up with powerful end-times scenarios am left wonderin'?

Will eschatological events follow natural occurrences or will they be put into being by God as necessary events in the prophetic timeline in which only He knows the day and the hour?

I guess we have historically emphasized the political/religious drama that will unfold but I wonder if Mother Earth is trying to send us some very strong signals?

Alex

Haven't seen 2012 yet, not sure that when I do I'll let it influence me one way or the other.
I believe that yes mother earth has always been trying to send us a message! Its just that many just don't see, hear or listen to it. Doesn't EGW mention or maybe its in the Bible about the earth growing old and groaning because of what we are doing to it? Didn't God tell us to take care of this earth? I'd say we are not doing a very good job!

IT is rally hard to try to think about what
and how this will happen since the bible talks
about a time that the earth has never seen before

GOD is in control of the events of this
earth's history and I am sure that HE is using
HIS time line to fullfill end time events for this
earth's history

Well, when I was growing up, the A Bomb was going to bring down the curtain on the world. Now, some people may think it will climatological disasters. I would surmise each generation has a different vision of what end times will be. We, as a church have taught much about end time scenarios so that people can judge the closeness of such and to be very afraid. We continue to give 'lip service' to not knowing when it will happen, but do everything we can to map it out!

Why did Christ tell the disciples about signs and wonders while at the same time saying even He not when the final moment would come. A careful reading shows that it was about giving them assurance of the truthful of his words, He would return, but not when.

Based on my longevity in the church I sometimes wonder about it all too. However, I no longer focus on it, end times, but today, that is all I can effect.

ps The film did an outstanding job depicting a catastrophic destruction of the planet...maybe they are on to something! No, it had nothing to do with Myans, that was all Hollywood story writing.

will we be taking this plague by plague or just a "free for all"? :)

according to both the bible and sop, this planet will go through disasters, especially after the close of probation, that will leave it a wreck.

OK, The Sheriff is back in town...

I have removed a couple strings of posts to a place of eternal torment. The apocalypse they caused within this topic basically derailed it from its original intent. The few hidden bits of substance within those posts were hardly worth saving.
