WHAT THIS IS... it is a place where people can study the weekly Sabbath School Lesson as a group. I so appreciate the work that James puts into this.

WHAT THIS IS NOT... it is NOT a place where those who constantly disagree with the teaching of the lesson should take the blessing away of those who enjoy it.

The negativity has destroyed forums like this in the past.

If you want to disagree with a generally accepted belief of Adventist then please go to another forum such as this one
http://clubadventist.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/190/page/1

When people are studying a lesson, or going though a book together, they should not have to be defensive with those who are not supportive of the study.

It kills the pleasure defending every comment that is made..

Too many people have been turned off by those who feel they need to argue every little trivial point.

That is just how it is.

Seeing what is not visible, you do not see the wind, but you do see the effects. GOD is LOVE and in order for love to be love it MUST have the right to say NO, God order for Love to be Love gave the right for each to say NO, so GOD has given us more then enough proof that He is there, and HE Loves, but not so much that someone who WILL NOT WISH TO believe can say NO i don't believe, but in James 2:19 satan himself believes, and trembles. SO in order for my believing to be what God calls belief it must be instead BE-LIVING, i must as it says in John 14:15 Love Him enough to DO what He says, For God "SO" Loved me that He gave. The greatest proof in ALL the world that God is alive IN ME is MY Changed Heart. God bless you all.

When this happens ... I would hope that a "moderator" would "moderate" by sending the offender a PM. How else would the offender learn. A general request will not work as well.

I don't know that the concept of 'first church' was used in reference to Antioch, The Bible says that Paul (Saul) and Barnabas assembled for a whole year, with the church, and taught many people - but the Bible says that Antioch was the place where the disciples of Jesus were first called 'Christians'.

"Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." Acts 11:26 KJ

Don't you think Paul was incredible? Wish I could work like he worked!

Acts 11:26 says they were first called Christians in Antioch. Is that what you are looking for?

Whoops I see that someone beat me to the punch ...

Seeing the invisible involves much more than simply believing that God exists but that "He is." Heb.11:6. We cannot please Him unless we believe that "HE IS." That is His name, "I AM." But what does that mean? "The greatness of God is to us incomprehensible. The Lord's throne is in Heaven (Ps.11:4); yet by His Spirit He is everywhere present. He has an intimate knowledge of and a personal interest in all the works of His hands." Education, p.132.

This expression, "By His Spirit He is everywhere present," has become more of a cliche than anything else. How many of us truly believe that the mind of God is "an unseen, mighty Intelligence that is working in and through all"? (Ed.14) How many of us believe that the Spirit of God is "the intelligent presence, the active Agency of a Being who is moving in all things according to His will"? (M.H.416) How many of us believe that "The Lord puts His own Spirit into the seed, causing it to spring into life" and that "under His care the germ breaks through the case enclosing it and springs up to develop and bear fruit"? (8 T 326)

How many of us believe that "the only key to the mysteries that surround us is to acknowledge in them all the presence and power of God" and that "the divine Spirit that the world's Redeemer promised to send is the presence and power of God?" (D.A.606; Signs of the Times, Nov.23,1891)

It is through the Spirit that "God is". Wherever we may go in the universe, "He is."

"Nature testifies of an Intelligence, a presence, an active energy, that works in and through her laws. There is in nature the continual working of the Father and the Son. Christ says, 'My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.' John 5:17." P.P.114.

In the book Education, p.14, we are told there that this is the highest education. That unless we see (with the eyes of the understanding) that the mind of God is the unseen, mighty Intelligence that is working in and through all, we do not know God as it is our privilege to know Him.

"Acquaint now yourself with Him" is God's message to mankind. (Ed.14)

sky

And yes, I do believe that a changed heart is prob the greatest evidence that "He is" there. Conversion is the greatest miracle.

i just don't understand the sentence in lesson 1 this quarter in wednesday's lesson, it say here,"that some folk don't avail themselves of what was offered doesn't take away from the wonder of the gift any more than someone who goes on a hunger strike in a market place takes away from the wonderful bounties found there",anyone can explain it to me?

I think what this statement is saying is that
just because some people do not accept or refuse
GODS bible truths does not take away the importance
of the message....
